WEST COUNTY : VENTURA : Gun Fired as Youths Leave Movie Theater
Ventura police on Sunday were investigating a possible gang altercation at the Century mohe was carrying, authorities said.
The confrontation, involving youths between 17 and 20 years old, took place a few minutes rgafter 11 p.m. Saturday as the Latinos left the movie complex on Elba Street in Ventura, police said.
“As they left the theater they were confronted . . . and words were exchanged,” said a police statement. According to witnesses, “gang slogans were said by both sides,” police said.
A member of the larger group then pulled out a handgun, pointed it toward the ground and fired the weapon, police said. The round ricocheted, shattering a glass panel in the theater’s front door. No injuries were reported.
All of the individuals fled the scene by the time police arrived.
