CAMARILLO : Groundbreaking Set for Park Renovation
An informal groundbreaking for renovation of Camarillo’s Constitution Park will be held at 3 p.m. today.
The park, which is next to Camarillo’s City Hall, is the site of community events such as summer concerts, the yearly fiesta and a holiday tree lighting.
The park will be closed from mid-November to early April for the renovation.
Improvements will include grading to create a bowl effect, installation of sidewalks, tree planting and hydroseeding with drought-tolerant grass.
The Constitution Park Committee, which has raised more than $200,000 of the $300,000 needed for the improvements, is still accepting monetary and service donations.
“Benches, lampposts and trees can be purchased and a donor’s plaque will be provided,” said Sandi Bush, committee chairwoman.
A few personalized bricks are still available that will be incorporated in a circular sidewalk.
“We’re calling it People’s Walk of Fame,” she said.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking. For information, call 484-4261.
