Syracuse didn’t want to look ahead to next week’s game against top-ranked Miami, even after beating Boston College.

The 10th-ranked Orangemen wrapped up the Lambert Trophy as best team in the East by holding the No. 17 Eagles to 111 yards rushing in a 27-10 Big East Conference victory at Chestnut Hill, Mass.

“I can’t really think about (Miami) right now, because I’m going to enjoy this one,” said Qadry Ismail, who caught six passes for 69 yards. “We’ve got the Lambert Trophy. No BC alumni, no anybody from the East can take it away from me. Penn State can’t take it away from me.”

Marvin Graves scored twice and threw for another touchdown as Syracuse, 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the Big East, won its seventh consecutive game and moved closer to a New Year’s Day bowl game. Boston College (7-2-1, 2-1-1) apparently is heading for the Hall of Fame Bowl.

Graves completed 13 of 19 passes for 138 yards and had a one-yard scoring pass to Eric Chenoweth in the third quarter.

Syracuse dominated the second half with a pair of long scoring drives, the second a 99-yard march that ended with Graves scoring from the one.

Chuckie Dukes rushed for 108 yards in 19 carries, his eighth 100-yard game of the season, but the Eagles were averaging 248 yards on the ground.
