A 34-year-old Arleta man has turned himself in to police in connection with the shooting death of a man in his Lancaster home, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.

Kelly Matheney was held without bail on suspicion of murder after he walked into the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley station and surrendered to police Monday at 6 p.m., Deputy Diane Hecht said. Matheney is being held in connection with the slaying of Brian Stockberger, 39, who was found shot in the back at close range Sunday on the porch of his home in the 43000 block of 11th Street East.

The shooting stemmed from a dispute between the two men, Hecht said.
