ESCONDIDO : Three Are Killed in Head-on Collision
Three people died early Sunday morning in a head-on crash near Escondido, police said.
The accident occurred about 7 a.m. when a car veered across the center line of Gopher Canyon Road near Vista Valley Drive and slammed into an oncoming car, killing the 22-year-old driver of the first car, his 39-year-old male passenger and an 18-year-old woman driving the second car, according to the California Highway Patrol. The female driver was alone in the car.
The cause of the accident was unknown and the victims’ identities were withheld pending notification of relatives. Police said all three passengers died despite the fact that they were wearing seat belts.
