SAN FRANCISCO —
Electricity was restored early Sunday to about 25,000 San Francisco households that lost power when a fire broke out in a Pacific Gas & Electric Co. substation.
The Saturday afternoon fire knocked out power in parts of the Richmond, Haight-Ashbury, Pacific Heights and Hayes Valley districts. Electricity was turned back on gradually with power restored to all customers by 2:40 a.m., PG & E said.
Firefighters had to work for more than two hours to put out the blaze before utility crews could begin restoring power.
