Audray McMillian got burned once Sunday, so he was not about to let it happen again.

McMillian, a cornerback, intercepted three passes, including one that he returned 25 yards for a touchdown, during the Minnesota Vikings’ 17-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Mike Tomczak and Lawyer Tillman made McMillian look bad when they hooked up for a 52-yard pass play on the Browns’ fourth play.

But McMillian’s three interceptions tied a Viking record accomplished nine times. McMillian, who had 73 yards in interception returns, has intercepted seven passes this season after taking over in training camp for injured cornerback Najee Mustafaa, formerly known as Reggie Rutland.

The Vikings (8-3), who lead the NFC Central by three games, have seven defensive touchdowns, six in the last four weeks.

“I don’t know if our defense actually expects to score every game, but we realize it’s possible on every play,” Viking linebacker Jack Del Rio said. “It’s a great feeling to be part of a feeding frenzy like this.”

Tomczak completed 15 of 24 passes for 169 yards for the Browns (5-6).

Viking quarterback Rich Gannon completed five of 12 passes for 26 yards and had two passes intercepted before he was replaced by Sean Salisbury, who was four of 12 for 30 yards. Salisbury’s three-yard touchdown pass to Joe Johnson pulled the Vikings to within 13-10 with 9:31 to play.

On the Browns’ next play, Todd Philcox threw a pass that went through Mark Bavaro’s hands. McMillian made a diving interception, got to his feet, and ran untouched down the right sideline.
