The Philadelphia Flyers lost Eric Lindros because of a knee injury, but gained a point when Len Barrie’s first goal of the season with 15 seconds remaining in regulation gave them a 4-4 tie with the Buffalo Sabres Sunday night at Philadelphia.

Lindros sprained his left knee 1:40 into the game when he and teammate Mark Recchi sandwiched Buffalo defenseman Petr Svoboda against the boards.

Lindros fell awkwardly, but was able to walk with the use of his left leg within 30 minutes.

“It’s pretty devastating for us under the circumstances,” Flyer Coach Bill Dineen said. “(Lindros could be out) for four weeks, so it’s going to hurt us.”

Washington 6, Quebec 4--Dale Hunter had two goals and two assists and Paul MacDermid had two goals at Quebec as the Capitals ended the Nordiques’ seven-game unbeaten streak.

The Nordiques took a 2-0 lead 2:18 into the game on goals 23 seconds apart by Alexi Gusarov and Andrei Kovalenko.

Mats Sundin, the only player with at least one point in every NHL game he has played this season, assisted on both and added another to extend his scoring streak to 22 games.

N.Y. Islanders 5, Edmonton 5--Scott Mellanby’s goal midway through the third period at Edmonton gave the Oilers the tie despite three goals from New York’s Pierre Turgeon.

Mellanby’s tip-in of Dave Manson’s shot gave the Oilers the tie and kept the Islanders winless at Edmonton since 1983-84.
