PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Ill-Timed Peek Still Rankles Safety Newman
Ram safety Anthony Newman is still dreaming about the interception that got away last Sunday.
Viking quarterback Sean Salisbury was attempting to get the ball to Hassan Jones on a sideline pattern, but Newman stepped in front for what looked like an easy interception. The ball hit Newman squarely in the hands, but he dropped it.
“I took my eyes off it for a second,” said Newman, who was checking out his unobstructed route to the end zone. “I took a peek downfield, but I still can’t believe I dropped it.
“I didn’t get any sleep Sunday night thinking about that one.”
