Snider replaces Greg Haskell, now an assistant at Trabuco Hills. He also inherits one of the toughest schedules in the county, with nonleague games against top-ranked Mater Dei, Capistrano Valley and Estancia. “We open against Lynwood in the first round of the Trabuco Hills tournament,” Snider said. “If we lose, we get either the Jazz or Celtics. Georgetown wouldn’t want our schedule.” Snider has a good returning nucleus in Nguyen, one of the county’s toughest defensive players, and Moore, a lightning-quick guard who averaged seven points last season. “Canhhuy is sort of a wolf in basketball clothing,” Snider said. “He’s a tough kid who will intimidate you.” But Tobie Priest and Marlon Watson, the bulk of the Rebels’ scoring punch, have graduated, and freshman starter Danny Joaquin has transferred to Sunny Hills. “About 40 points a game just walked out the door with Priest, Watson and Joaquin,” Snider said. “We averaged 50 points a game last season.” Still, Snider thinks his team can be a factor in the league race--if it survives the tough nonleague schedule. “We’re a smart team, and we can easily adapt to any given situation,” he said.
