Major league players got about half the income of the 26 teams in the majors this year, up from 30% in 1989, according to management figures obtained by the Associated Press.
Operating profit of the teams declined by 56% in 1991 to $99 million, according to the figures, which show the commissioner’s office estimates the teams will break even for 1992.
