Lantos pleads that the best he can do is continue to be a victim of the “sinking ship” called the public school system.

The appeal of such simple self-sacrifice by teachers to failing school organizations is rapidly wearing out. There actually is much more that teachers can do than surrender to self-pitying martyrdom.

Most importantly, they can defy the school bureaucrats and their union bosses and work vigorously and tirelessly for parent choice. There is not a single disadvantage that Lantos says he suffers as a teacher that would not be ameliorated if all parents were fully enabled to send their children to schools of their choice.
