ANTELOPE VALLEY : Bus Ridership Rise Ends 5-Month Drop
Bus ridership declined in the Antelope Valley during the past five months, but began to rebound last month, according to a report by the Antelope Valley Transit Authority.
The transit authority, which represents Lancaster, Palmdale and Los Angeles County, has operated all public transportation services in the Antelope Valley since July, including commuter buses, the local fixed-route bus system and dial-a-ride.
The report shows overall bus ridership down 3.5% and local fixed-route ridership down 13% from July through November, when public bus service was operated by the authority, compared with the same period in 1991, when service was operated under various contracts.
But in November, ridership increased 14% and local fixed-route ridership increased 6%, compared with the same month in 1991.
