NORTHRIDGE : Recruiters Help Students Enroll

Share

Cal State Northridge recruiters spent two mornings at Reseda High School this week guiding students through the enrollment process and handing out letters of acceptance for the fall of 1993.

The effort was part of a program the university began four years ago to ease the stress associated with applying to college.

In the fall, the university sends teams of representatives to 10 Los Angeles high schools to tell students about the university and hold workshops on how to fill out the applications, said Ludim Seja, director of CSUN’s university outreach services.

During a final visit, the team gives out acceptance letters.

Students who have not yet applied also have a chance on that visit to fill out applications and learn within the day whether they are accepted, Seja said.

On Monday and Tuesday, CSUN representatives handed out acceptance letters to 85 students at Reseda High, Seja said.

About 15% of the 2,159-member freshmen who entered CSUN in the fall of 1992 were admitted through the on-site program at the 10 schools, Seja said.
