Douglas Returns to Celtics
Point guard Sherman Douglas practiced with the Boston Celtics on Sunday, returning from a two-game absence that team officials had ascribed to emotional problems and Douglas compared to calling in sick for work.
Douglas said he was “just kind of unsure of the way I was playing and I wasn’t playing up to my expectations. That’s all it was.
“Sometimes you just need days off, you know. Anybody else--a worker, whoever--you want a day off, you call in sick. I call in sick, it’s a big deal about it. But that’s the life of just being a basketball player.”
Douglas, who began the season as a starter but had been coming off the bench in recent games, skipped Wednesday’s game in Indiana and Friday night’s game against the Knicks.
“I don’t know if all sins are forgiven,” Coach Chris Ford said Sunday, adding that he would have to consult with team officials.
