Ahmanson Development
Joe Edmiston should be replaced as director of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. His brand of so-called environmentalism has wreaked havoc on Calabasas.
His endorsement of the disastrous Ahmanson Ranch plan will pour tens of thousands of unwanted cars onto the roads in front of my home. He points to the 10,000 acres of open space that Ahmanson will provide. But this is no gift. We’re paying for it to the tune of close to $30 million.
Mr. Edmiston has also generously supported the Baldwin and Micor developments, which between them will add 800 homes to the Las Virgenes area, who knows how much more traffic, remove more than 2,000 oak trees and grade something like 25 million cubic yards of earth.
Now he is about to embark on the condemnation of Soka University, ironically the one project that would benefit the community the most. It’s the most environmentally sensitive one, and rather than ticky-tacky houses, at least it will provide us with culture and education.
Who has control over this guy? Have our local representatives forfeited land use planning to this one bureaucrat? Calabasas ought to have Joe Edmiston ousted, because he has built his empire and reputation at our expense.
