It took the Mustangs almost of three quarters to put the Lions away. Westminster, which trailed most of the game, pulled to within 45-41 with four minutes 49 seconds left in the third quarter, but Trabuco Hills went on a 10-0 run in the next minute to take a 55-41 lead.

Westminster, trailing 63-45 after three quarters, got to within 12 on three-point baskets by Lac Tan and Brady Okura, but Trabuco Hills was able to hold off the Lions.

The Mustangs led, 6-3, but two layups by Robert Ishii put Westminster ahead. The Lions trailed, 15-12, with just over one minute left in the first quarter, but two free throws by Barnes and a 12-foot jumper by Derrek Uhl gave Trabuco Hills a 19-12 lead at the end of the quarter.

The two teams played an even second quarter, but in the third, Trabuco Hills’ inside game took over.

“We’re fortunate to have five post players that are pretty much equal,” Wulf said. “I can rotate them in and out and not lose too much.”
