Mississippi College could be stripped of its 1989 Division II national football championship because of NCAA rules violations.

A yearlong investigation by the NCAA Committee on Infractions revealed that during the championship season, Mississippi College had awarded twice the number of 40 scholarships allowed to Division II schools.

The NCAA said grants-in-aid awarded to 98 players at Mississippi College during the 1989-90 academic school year equaled 80.21 scholarships.
