Castaic Lake Angler Gets a 28-Pound Striped Bass
Castaic Lake, better known for big largemouth bass, produced an unofficial lake-record striped bass for Alberto Rotta of Hermosa Beach on Tuesday.
Rotta’s catch weighed 28 pounds. He caught it with a Rebel Jawbreaker lure on 15-pound-test line, fishing from shore near the marina after a trout plant.
The former record was not immediately available, but lake employees said they were sure it was the largest striper ever caught at the Los Angeles County lake near Interstate 5.
