Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, serving a six-year prison sentence in Indiana on a rape conviction, has been called to testify in a Louisiana perjury case.

Federal officials in Louisiana have called the Indiana Department of Correction about having Tyson travel to testify at the trial of the Rev. T.J. Jemison later this month.

Jemison, president of the eight-million member National Baptist Convention U.S.A., is accused of lying when federal prosecutors asked him, during a trial in an unrelated case, whether he had spoken with Desiree Washington, whom Tyson was convicted of raping, or her family about payments. Jemison testified he had not, but prosecutors produced a tape that was used in the government’s case for an indictment.
