Two Horses Are Destroyed After Spill at Los Alamitos
Two quarter horses were destroyed after suffering massive injuries in a first-race spill at Los Alamitos on Friday night.
Baby Cash Target and Scoleri started from the outside two post positions in the 10-horse field. Midway through the 350-yard race, Baby Cash Target, who was near the lead, veered out and went through the rail that leads to the trackside paddock. Scoleri, who was on Baby Cash Target’s outside, was forced into a fence that separates the paddock from the track.
Jockeys Carlos Bautista and Rick Bulkley were not injured and returned to ride later in the program.
