St. Clair has never scored fewer than 18 points in a game this season, making him one of the most consistent scorers in Orange County. And his consistency should take him to the top of the Sonora career scoring list Wednesday against La Habra. With his fifth point, St. Clair will surpass Eric Samuelson as the school’s all-time scoring leader. Samuelson, who played from 1981-84, scored 1,319. Last week, St. Clair scored 27 points in each of two victories over Fullerton and Sunny Hills. Against Sunny Hills, he added six rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Sunny Hills trailed by three with 43 seconds left, but St. Clair made two free throws and then blocked a shot by Jacob Cuccia, recovered the ball and laid it in. “That’s typical because he makes as many big plays defensively as offensively,” Sonora Coach Mike Murphy said. “He took over the last two minutes of that game.”

Other top performers:

Jim Faulkner, who scored 21 points to help Estancia upset then-No. 3 ranked Trabuco Hills, 76-70. He also had 24 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots in the Eagles’ 58-55 victory over Laguna Hills.

Jeff Martell, who had 24 points in Los Amigos’ 49-48 victory over Bolsa Grande. He made six three-point baskets, including one with six seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime and the game-winner with eight seconds left in overtime.

Alex Tolentino, who scored 22 points in each of Buena Park’s victories, 54-49 over La Habra, and 61-56 over Troy. Tolentino had 11 assists and made 15 of 24 shots from the field in the two games.

Shane Valdez, Dane Valdez, Joey Coughran and Mauricio Mora, who each won individual titles at the Five Counties Wrestling Invitational, helping Calvary Chapel to third place. Shane Valdez won at 113 pounds, Dane Valdez at 120, Coughran 131 and Mora 136.
