LOS ANGELES : 9 Children Hurt as Pickup Strikes Bus on Freeway
Nine children suffered minor injuries Tuesday when a chartered bus was struck in a chain collision that also involved an armored car, authorities said.
The bus, carrying children from the Valley Cities Jewish Community Center in Van Nuys, was hit about 11:30 a.m. by a pickup that had been struck by a Brinks Inc. armored truck, said Officer Rhett Price of the California Highway Patrol. The accident blocked three southbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway about one mile north of downtown, Price said.
The bus was taking the children to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, he said. The children were treated at various area hospitals and released.
