SANTA ANA — Two robbers, angry that their intended victims did not hand over their money, shot and killed one man and stabbed another, police said.
Sgt. Roger Scharf said the incident occurred at 9:05 p.m. Friday at 1805 S. Cedar St.
The man who was killed was identified as Jose M. Vega, 45, of Santa Ana. The stabbing victim’s name has not been released, Scharf said. He said Vega and two other men were standing in a carport when they were approached by two men who demanded money.
Vega refused and was shot, Scharf said. Scharf said a companion of Vega’s then was stabbed. The third man, who also was not identified, escaped injury. The two attackers then fled.
Scharf said the stabbing victim’s wounds are not believed to be life-threatening. Police are looking for the assailants.
