Bradley Rape Trial Set to Begin Monday

The trial of former Moorpark College running back Freddie Bradley, charged with raping a 13-year-old girl while he was a member of the University of Arkansas football team, is scheduled to begin Monday. If convicted, Bradley faces a maximum term of 40 years in prison, with a 10-year sentence considered more likely, prosecutors said.

Also on trial will be Derrick Martin, an Arkansas teammate of Bradley’s. The two are accused of picking up the 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl outside Woodland Junior High in Fayetteville, Ark., April 22. Prosecutor Andrew Ziser said the two men brought the girls back to the athletic dormitory at the university and engaged in sex with them.

Under Arkansas law, having sex with a partner under the age of 14 is rape, even if it is consensual.

Bradley broke O.J. Simpson’s national junior college scoring records during his two seasons at Moorpark before accepting a scholarship to Arkansas. He holds Moorpark records for all-purpose yards in a season (2,428) and a career (4,123).
