LOS ANGELES : Motorcyclist’s Severed Leg Discovered in Back Yard
A South Gate man told sheriff’s deputies Tuesday that a severed leg found Sunday in the back yard of a Willowbrook house belongs to him.
Roman Diaz, 28, “had lost it in a traffic accident in December,” said Sgt. Bob Stoneman of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Diaz’s leg was severed Dec. 12 when a car turned in front of his motorcycle at Firestone Boulevard and Hooper Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Todd Sturges.
“The car stopped briefly, but then took off,” Sturges said. “It’s just bizarre that (the leg) showed up so long after the accident.”
Sturges said Diaz was shocked that his leg had turned up. Authorities said a relative heard a news report about the mysterious leg found in Willowbrook and notified investigators that it might be Diaz’s.
