NBA ROUNDUP : Trail Blazers Shrug Off Allegations, Win

The Portland Trail Blazers, shrugging off allegations of sexual misconduct by some of their players, defeated the Golden State Warriors, 143-133, at Portland on Tuesday night for their sixth consecutive victory.

Clyde Drexler had 31 points and 10 assists for the Trail Blazers, who surpassed their previous high of 135 points established Friday against the Sacramento Kings.

Cliff Robinson finished with 26 points, Terry Porter had 25 and Rod Strickland added 21 for the Trail Blazers, who have scored 402 points in three games. The Trail Blazers shot 61% Tuesday.

Chris Mullin scored 31 points and Latrell Sprewell added 27 for the Warriors, who lost for the seventh time in eight games.

The Trail Blazers reacted angrily before the game to a Salt Lake City police report in which two 16-year-old girls alleged they had sexual contact with several Portland players. No charges have been filed.

New York 98, Philadelphia 90--Coach Doug Moe didn’t take long to sum up the 76ers’ loss to the Knicks at New York.

“We played awfuller than they did,” Moe said after center Patrick Ewing led the Knicks to their fourth consecutive victory, scoring 26 points and taking 21 rebounds.

The Sixers played the final three quarters without starting center Manute Bol, who was ejected for throwing a punch at Anthony Mason as they battled for a rebound during the first quarter. They also played the second half without rookie Clarence Weatherspoon, who suffered a bruised left knee.

Orlando 120, Atlanta 106--Shaquille O’Neal had 26 points and 12 rebounds and Tom Tolbert added 24 points and 16 rebounds for the Magic at Orlando.

The Hawks, who have lost four in a row to the Magic, got 27 points from Dominique Wilkins and 23 points and 15 rebounds from Kevin Willis.

Washington 104, Miami 102--Michael Adams made the winning layup with 1.9 seconds left in overtime as the Bullets overcame a 17-point deficit at Landover, Md.

The victory ended the Bullets’ five-game losing streak. The Heat fell to 0-5 in overtime games.

Chicago 123, Dallas 88--Scottie Pippen and Stacey King each scored 19 points as the Bulls won easily at Dallas.

The Bulls led by as many as 35 points during the first half and 44 during the second in posting their largest victory margin of the season.

Michael Jordan scored only 15 points, more than 17 below his league-leading average, but sat out the fourth quarter.

Utah 113, Cleveland 96-- Karl Malone had 28 points and 13 rebounds at Salt Lake City as the Jazz won for the 14th time in their last 15 home games.

Jeff Malone added 16 points and Larry Krystkowiak added 15, while John Stockton had 14 points and 14 assists.

Milwaukee 100, Houston 86-- Blue Edwards scored 24 points as the Bucks ended their franchise-record six-game home losing streak.

Todd Day and Eric Murdock added 18 points each and Fred Roberts had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bucks.

Hakeem Olajuwon had 22 points to lead the Rockets, who lost their second consecutive game after winning eight in a row.
