Buffalo Coach Marv Levy acknowledged this has been a dull week--and he is glad.
Unlike the last two Super Bowls, Levy has not had to answer questions regarding comments by Thurman Thomas or Bruce Smith or other Bills. Instead, he has merely had to deal with a phantom fight between linebacker Darryl Talley and Magic Johnson’s bodyguard.
“It was a nice clumsy try on a non-story,” Levy said in his final news conference before Sunday’s game.
Levy credited his team’s attitude for this year’s quiet week.
“Our mood is not a great deal different going into this game than in years past,” Levy said. “But I feel that this year we are better prepared for the media glare. With this team, there isn’t going to be one thing to distract us. Nothing. Nothing.”
Thomas, who misplaced his helmet at the start of last year’s Super Bowl, had a gift for reporters this week: Small plastic souvenir Buffalo helmets.
