They Have Bones to Pick Over Their Own Pet Peeves

Share

After a final rueful scraping of doggie-do from my expensive, new running shoe, I reread the article, “Pet Peeve” (Times, Jan. 24).

I’ve got a peeve too: dog owners!

Where were you when I wheeled my off-road bike from the underpass at Santa Monica Canyon, only to find both tires smeared with the tunnel-deposited droppings of yet another beloved canine? A high pressure hosing was required to remove this noisome road debris!

As I set out on my morning paddleboard workout, I am compelled to tiptoe through a virtual minefield of doggie deposits, left nightly by stealthy dog owners in the apartment complexes behind the beach.

I would encourage Ms. Brooks (quoted in the article) to take her pooper-scooper down to the grassy area between the sidewalk and the bike path in Ocean Park and pick up some of the vast residue of dog droppings in what used to be a welcoming running trail.

Self-absorbed dog owners should be sternly reminded that fecal material, no matter what its source, constitutes a serious health hazard to everyone!
