Cal State Northridge men’s volleyball Coach John Price was selected to direct the North team in the U.S. Olympic Festival volleyball tournament, July 31-Aug. 1 in San Antonio, Texas. Northridge assistant Jeff Campbell will serve as an assistant for the West team.

Price, 34, the East coach in the 1991 Festival in Los Angeles, has compiled a won-lost record of 110-102 in his eight-plus seasons at Northridge.

The former Northridge player guided the Matadors to their finest season in 1992, including two victories over No. 1-ranked Cal State Long Beach, a win over eventual NCAA champion Pepperdine and a berth in the championship match of the Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. tournament.

The Matadors are currently ranked fourth nationally, the same ranking they held at the end of last season.

Campbell is in his fourth season as Price’s assistant. A two-time West Valley League most valuable player for Chatsworth High, he played one season at UCLA and one season at Northridge, where he was a middle blocker and team captain.
