Simi Valley police arrested five youths on suspicion of burglary after they were spotted running through a residential area of the city carrying $7,000 worth of goods, including cameras, binoculars, jewelry and cash, police said.
The youths, all Simi Valley residents, were not identified because they are minors. However, police said four are males and one is a female, all either 15 or 16 years of age.
They were arrested about 2:30 p.m. Thursday after a witness told police she saw them fleeing from a tract in the city’s eastern end with their arms loaded down, authorities said.
Two of the juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall and the other three were cited and released to their parents.
The houses burglarized were in the 2100 block of Pullman Avenue and the 300 block of Sleepy Hollow Street, police said. All property was recovered, authorities said.
