Miriam Vogt of Germany won a gold medal in the women’s combined at the World Alpine Ski Championships in Shizukuishi, Japan. Vogt earned the victory by finishing second in the opening phase behind Anita Wachter of Austria, and then finishing behind Picabo Street of Sun Valley, Ida., in the second phase.
