LOS ANGELES : Holden Sued by Ex-Aide Who Says He Harassed Her
- Share via
A former aide to Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden filed a $2.5-million lawsuit Monday, accusing Holden of repeatedly subjecting her to sexual harassment during her four years in his office.
Holden “regards women as second-class citizens and sexual objects,” former aide Carla Cavalier said before the filing of the action in Los Angeles Superior Court. “What has happened to me has been a nightmare.”
Cavalier first made her allegations late last year, becoming the first of three former female aides to accuse Holden of sexual harassment. She said she was subjected to leering, inappropriate touching and suggestive comments nearly every time she saw Holden, until she was forced to resign last year.
Holden called a news conference to say that Cavalier is “absolutely lying” and that the charges are part of a campaign to derail his bid for mayor.
