RESEDA : Board Adds $5,000 for Clues in Attacks

The Los Angeles County supervisors on Tuesday approved a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for three attacks against the Grace Hungarian Reform Church in Reseda.

Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who sponsored the motion and represents the congregation, said the $5,000 will be added to the $20,000 in reward money already pledged by church members and private contributors and $10,000 offered by the Los Angeles City Council. All three attacks last year were suspected fire bombings, including one that caused $300,000 damage, according to Antonovich and church officials.

The board recently ordered the county Department of Human Relations to review the attacks at the church, at 6202 Wilbur Ave., to determine whether they are racially motivated, Antonovich said.

“Through such efforts we can develop a program to combat future hate attacks,” Antonovich said Tuesday. Police have said they have no suspects in any of the attacks.
