Four players on Cal State Fullerton’s basketball team, three of them starters, were suspended indefinitely Tuesday by Coach Brad Holland.

Holland said center Sean Williams, forward Kim Kemp and point guard Aaron Sunderland, along with back-up guard Sharif Metoyer, violated team rules and will sit out tonight’s game against Houston. The coach was not specific about the infraction, which apparently occurred Saturday night after the Titans’ 72-60 victory over Nevada.

“They violated team rules and now they have to earn the right to be back on the team,” Holland said. “We will evaluate them on a daily basis.”

Holland added, however, that the four might be reinstated as early as Thursday.

Williams, Kemp, Sunderland and Metoyer were not allowed to practice with the team Monday and Tuesday and, according to Holland, will not be allowed inside Titan Gym for tonight’s game.

The four practiced by themselves late Tuesday afternoon, after the regular team practice.

Williams is averaging 12.8 points and 6.1 rebounds; Sunderland is averaging 12.3 points and 6.2 assists and Kemp is averaging 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds. All are seniors. Metoyer is a freshman.

The three starters probably will be replaced by 6-foot-4 Greg Vernon, 6-3 Dijon Bernard and 6-7 Todd Satalowich, all juniors.
