Hart’s Grossman Added to Field for Sunkist Invitational 2-Mile

Keith Grossman of Hart High has been added to the field for the boys’ two-mile run in the Sunkist invitational indoor track and field meet at the Sports Arena on Feb. 20.

Grossman, a senior, timed a personal best of 9 minutes 9.83 seconds in the 3,200 meters to finish fourth in the prestigious Arcadia invitational last year before contracting an illness that hampered him for the rest of the season.

Margarito Casillas of Hoover, the 1992 state Division I cross-country champion, also is entered in the race.

The 1993 Wave Classic golf tournament will be held March 1 at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

The tournament, which benefits student-athletes whose scholarships and athletic eligibility have expired, will feature a clinic by the nationally ranked Pepperdine men’s golf team, as well as a shootout, a putting tournament and an awards dinner.

The tournament is limited to 50 players.

The Chaminade High baseball team will play a team from Japan in an exhibition game March 29 at Chaminade.

Shizuoka Commercial High will play Chaminade as part of a tour of Southern California. The team also will play Crossroads, among other schools.
