Acreditohisrace, a 3-year-old gelding racing for only the second time, won the fourth race Thursday at Santa Anita as a 149-1 shot, beating 155-1 shot Majestic Caddy by half a length.

In giving apprentice jockey Sal Gonzalez Jr. his first victory, Acreditohisrace had to survive a stewards’ inquiry to post the $300.20 upset. Trained by Dan Hendricks, who also had seventh-place finisher and 3-1 shot Melius in the race, Acreditohisrace had finished seventh, beaten by 17 lengths in his debut on Feb. 4.

Majestic Caddy finished sixth in that same race and he combined with the winner for a $2,823.80 exacta. There were $98 worth of tickets sold on the 9-8 combination.

Gonzalez, the nephew of trainer Paco Gonzalez, was riding for only the seventh time.

The biggest upset in Santa Anita history occurred when Playmay won on Feb. 4, 1938, and paid $673.40.
