Titan-Cougars Baseball Series Canceled

The Cal State Fullerton-Washington State baseball series scheduled for this weekend has been canceled because of inclement weather, Titan Coach Augie Garrido said Thursday.

The Titans and Cougars were scheduled to play three games, beginning tonight. Garrido said the series will not be rescheduled, and that the Titans will probably attempt to make up the three games against a team closer to home.

In other news, the Orange County Sports Assn. has reached an agreement to bring Georgia Tech and Oklahoma to its second baseball tournament, at Fullerton, next spring. Georgia Tech is ranked second nationally by Baseball America; Oklahoma is coached by former Titan baseball coach Larry Cochell.

Florida State, Chapman University and Gonzaga join Fullerton in this spring’s Anaheim Hilton and Towers Baseball Classic, scheduled for Feb. 26-28 at Titan Field.

“We would expect to continue to do that, select (top) teams that this area normally wouldn’t get a chance to see,” Garrido said. “That should be the level of this tournament.”
