A 74-year-old Newport Beach woman was killed early Saturday morning and her companion was injured when their car was rear-ended by another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl who was later arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, police said.

Marvel Louise Caliva was dead on arrival at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, police said. She had not been wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight on Newport Boulevard at 19th Street. Police said Caliva was a passenger in a car that had stopped at a red light.
