Cinnamon Basco scored a career-high 35 points to help Golden West to a 110-64 victory over Antelope Valley in the first round of the Southern California women’s playoffs Wednesday in Huntington Beach.

It was the 23rd consecutive victory for Golden West (33-2).

Basco, a sophomore forward, was 14 of 19 from the field and six of nine on free throw attempts. She also had a game-high 13 rebounds. Melanie Iwamasa, who earlier in the day was selected as the Orange Empire Conference’s player of the year, had 22 points.

But the victory wasn’t all good news for Golden West, which lost sophomore guard Erika Miller to a dislocated left elbow. Miller was on a break-away in the first half when she was hit from behind by Niana Dunn, who was ejected.

Golden West advances to play Southwestern in the second round Saturday at home at 7 p.m. Miller is doubtful for that game.

In another playoff game:

Collen Hatch had 17 points to give her 500 for the season, only the fifth player in OCC history to reach that level. Orange Coast plays host to Cerritos at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
