COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Motrey Provides the Power That Propels Golden West

Eric Motrey drove in three runs with a double and a triple as Golden West defeated Fullerton, 9-3, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday.

David Vergara, who pitched six innings, earned the victory for Golden West (5-5, 1-0 in the conference). Brent Coon had a double for host Fullerton (7-6, 0-2) in the fifth inning.

In another Orange Empire Conference game:

Rancho Santiago 5, Cypress 3--Darren Troilo had a two-run double to highlight a four-run third inning for host Rancho Santiago (11-1, 2-0).

In nonconference baseball:

Long Beach 6, Orange Coast 4--Jason Parsons had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for visiting Orange Coast (7-5).

In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:

Golden West 8, Cypress 1--Trent Burns won at No. 1 singles for Golden West (4-2, 2-0).

Saddleback 9, Riverside 0--Max Alvarez and Nils Schyllander led Saddleback (5-0, 3-0) with straight-set victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:

Riverside 6, Saddleback 3--Jocelyn Jespersen won at No. 1 singles for Saddleback (1-2).
