Chadwick 75, Faith Baptist 51--Junior guard Neil Thakur scored a game-high 19 points to lead top-seeded Chadwick (22-8) in a Division V game at Peninsula High.

Sophomore forward Tony Hoggatts scored 12 points and added 10 rebounds for Faith Baptist, which has advanced to the semifinals or beyond in three of the past four seasons. Faith Baptist (16-12) took a 4-0 lead in the first quarter before Chadwick--ranked third in the state in Division V--embarked on a 13-0 run.

“I don’t know if anybody in Division V could have beaten them tonight,” said Faith Baptist Coach Stuart Mason, whose team made 16 of 51 shots from the field (31.3%).

Senior guard James DeCarriere had 14 points and six steals for Faith Baptist.

GIRLS’ SEMIFINALS

Thousand Oaks 65, Marina 42--Melissa Wood and Marion Jones led the undefeated Lancers to a victory in a Division I-A game.

Wood scored a game-high 21 points, and Jones added 18 points, 16 rebounds and two blocked shots as Thousand Oaks improved to 29-0. The Lancers will play Buena, a 69-20 winner over Quartz Hill in the other semifinal, in the final Saturday night at Loyola Marymount.

Thousand Oaks led, 48-25, at halftime after outscoring Marina (22-5), 22-9, in the second quarter. Jones made three three-point baskets in the quarter.

Buena 69, Quartz Hill 20--Buena (22-3) dominated the Division I-A game at Highland High. Julie Hardy led Buena with 16 points and Amanda Falls added 12.

Quartz Hill finished 17-7.

Ventura 71, Norco 56--Ember Brown scored a game-high 30 points for the Cougars (23-4) in a Division II-AA game at Buena High. Tina Eckberg added 14. Norco finished 22-5.

Ventura led, 22-10, after the first quarter and 41-22 at halftime.

Bell-Jeff 66, Village Christian 47--Lori Talley scored a game-high 22 points and teammate Cathy Flores added 21 as Bell-Jeff (27-2) won a Division IV-A game.

Christina Ticsay scored 16 points for Bell-Jeff, champion of the Camino Real League.

Village Christian (21-5), champion of the Alpha League, was led by Lindy James’ 16 points.

St. Bernard 63, Nordhoff 29--Rachel McSorley scored 19 points for Nordhoff (23-2) in a Division IV-AA game at Santa Clara High. St. Bernard is 24-4.
