OUTLOOK

Three of Pacifica’s returning starters are pitchers and that is where Flatten figures his team will be strongest. Dean (6-4, 1.82 earned-run average, two shutouts) is the ace. “He changes speeds and is real competitive,” Flatten said. “He could have been 9-1 last year, but he lost some 3-2, 2-1 games.” Misera (2.10 ERA) is the No. 2 starter and Weber will probably come out of the bullpen. “I’m hoping our pitching can keep us in the games and we can scrap for some runs,” Flatten said. Pacifica will be without starting third baseman Chris Brown, who will miss the season for disciplinary reasons. DePippo (.343) will lead off and provide some speed on the bases. Dillman, who moves from right field to center, is the Mariners’ best contact hitter.
