Christian Athletes Night Slated at Azusa Pacific
The annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Night of Champions will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. March 26 at Azusa Pacific University’s Athletic Stadium and Upper Turner Campus Center, 901 E. Alosta Ave.
The outreach program, which includes games, food, appearances by major sports figures and a presentation on Christianity, is expected to attract more than 2,500 high school students.
The purpose is to expose high school students to the Christian lifestyle as an alternative to drugs and gangs. The cost is $7.
Among the athletes who will attend are Dave Johnson, bronze medalist in the decathlon at the 1992 Olympics; Kriss Akabusi, bronze medalist in the 400-meter hurdles, and Steve Largent, former wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks.
