Davis doesn’t know if the Warriors can challenge league favorite Cerritos Valley Christian, but he hopes they will stay in the running for second place. “Valley Christian is pretty strong . . . I know we can compete with everyone else.” Carey, who started at shortstop for the second half of last season, returns after leading the team in batting average. Mullen, who batted cleanup last season, returns after hitting a team-high three home runs and posting a team-leading 14 RBIs during the Warriors’ 18-game schedule last season. Tabot will anchor the pitching staff for the Warriors after striking out 79 batters in 49 innings last season. Tabot also walked 49 while posting a 4-4 record and a 5.14 earned run average last season, but Davis said the senior left-hander has shown improved control. Thomas will try his hand at baseball after helping Brethren Christian’s basketball team to a Southern Section Division V-AA basketball championship.
