COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cook Drives In Eight to Propel Chapman Past Portland

Chapman right fielder Kevin Cook hit two home runs and drove in eight runs to lead the Panthers to a 14-9 nonconference baseball victory over Portland Thursday at Hart Park.

Cook hit a three-run homer in the third inning to give Chapman a 6-5 lead and a grand slam in the fourth to highlight a six-run inning.

Corey Giuliano pitched a complete game for the Panthers (10-11). Portland is 5-7.

In another nonconference baseball game:

Christ College Irvine 10, Occidental 10 (9, darkness)--Reed Randoy went two for two with two runs scored and Mike Crumrine was two for four with three runs batted in for Christ College Irvine (6-7-2) at home.

In nonconference softball:

Christ College Irvine 15-12, Biola 1-2--Christ College Irvine (2-0) swept the doubleheader at home, led by Lasondra Kellum, who had six hits and three RBIs, including a solo home run in the second game. Stephanie Viola pitched a one-hitter in the first game and had six hits and three RBIs for the day.

Southern California College 16-4, Loyola Marymount 0-3 (8, second game)--Shannon Saylor pitched a five-inning no-hitter in the first game for Southern California College (11-6-2). Shannon Moreno hit a three-run homer in the first inning and teammate Jennifer Caruso went two for three with four RBIs. In the second game, Celeste Gordon singled in the winning run in the eighth.
