Five Cal Poly Pomona players, including three starters, fouled out in a 91-55 loss to third-ranked North Dakota State in a NCAA Division II women’s basketball quarterfinal Friday night before 5,301 at Fargo, N.D.

The five players eighth-ranked Pomona (27-3) had left on the court when the game ended were the only five it had remaining. Fouling out were starters Mildred Conston, Jennifer Harney and LeeAnna Hiestand plus reserves Vanisha Miles and Rose Jong.

“I am not going to comment on the officiating,” Pomona Coach Darlene May said. “North Dakota State (28-3) is a very good basketball team, they don’t have any weaknesses. They are a seasoned team (that has) been playing together for four years. Tonight was not a fluke.”
