PREP ROUNDUP : Perry Wins Twice to Lead El Toro in Girls’ Swimming

Michelle Perry won the 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle to lead El Toro to a 103-67 victory over Fountain Valley in a nonleague girls’ swimming meet Friday at Fountain Valley.

Perry won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute 56.36 seconds and the 50 freestyle in 25.28 for the Chargers (4-0). Freshman Katie Simmons won the 200 individual medley (2:17.10) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.32) for El Toro.

In other nonleague meets:

Canyon 135, Fullerton 25--Canyon’s Alice Kim won the 50 freestyle in 25.8 to qualify for the Southern Section meet. Britton Lozano won the 200 and 500 freestyle for host Canyon (3-1).

La Quinta 92, Ocean View 70--Jennifer Almond won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:23.28 for Ocean View (2-2). Bonnie Blanchard won the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke with times of 5:49.82 and 1:12.78.

In nonleague boys’ swimming:

Ocean View 75, La Quinta 70--Dagon Percer won the 50 and 100 freestyle to lead Ocean View (3-1).

In the El Monte Arroyo softball tournament:

Troy 6, Redlands 0--Troy (8-4) scored five runs in the fifth in the victory.

In nonleague softball:

Orange 9, Santa Ana 4--Chris Puccio, Dara Marzolo and Jenny Browning had three hits each for visiting Orange (5-3). Marzolo also scored four runs.

In Sea View League boys’ tennis:

Corona del Mar 15, Saddleback 3--Lars Hoglund swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, to lead Corona del Mar (6-1, 4-0).

Newport Harbor 10, Santa Margarita 8--Freshman and No. 1 singles player Geoff Abrams swept his sets for Newport Harbor, 6-0, 6-4, 6-0. Newport Harbor is 4-3, 3-0.

University 18, Tustin 0--Eric Peterson swept at No. 1 singles without losing a game for host University (5-0, 3-0).

Woodbridge 12, Irvine 6--Bob Lee won, 6-0, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles (6-2, 1-2) for visiting Woodbridge.

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

Esperanza 14, Valencia 4--Mike Burgess swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 for visiting Esperanza (7-1). Valencia is 4-3.

Trabuco Hills 15, Redondo Beach 3--Visiting Trabuco Hills (6-1) swept in doubles. Conrad Taylor and Pat Steele won, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Romit Shah and Mario Mikula won, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, and Josh Rubel and Bryan Heyl won, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6.
