Michael Adams was light-headed because of flu, but that didn’t prevent him from making two three-pointers during a fourth-quarter surge to lead the Washington Bullets past the New Jersey Nets, 97-92, at Landover, Md., on Monday night.

The Bullets, already without injured center Pervis Ellison, had to play without rookie Tom Gugliotta and guard Rex Chapman, both of whom also had flu.

Adams scored 22 points in 39 minutes.

“I was a little light-headed . . . but we already had a few guys out, so I had to go,” Adams said.

The Bullets adjusted to the situation, but the Nets had problems dealing with the loss of guard Drazen Petrovic, who left because of a sprained left knee during the third quarter.

Denver 107, Utah 93--Dikembe Mutombo scored 21 points and Chris Jackson added 18 at Denver, ending the Nuggets’ five-game losing streak and running Utah’s losing streak to three.

Jeff Malone scored 17 points to lead Utah, which had won its previous seven games against the Nuggets. Karl Malone had 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Golden State 96, Detroit 91--Billy Owens scored 19 points and Latrell Sprewell 17 for the Warriors at Oakland. Joe Dumars led Detroit with 29 points.
