Seniors Shawn Bankhead and Joe Wyatt have had much in common for the past two seasons, including selection to the 1992-93 All-City Section 4-A Division basketball team.

Bankhead, a forward from Cleveland High, and Wyatt, a guard from Kennedy, also made the All-City team last year. Additionally, they shared the most valuable player award in league play for two consecutive seasons and were Times’ All-Valley selections as juniors. (The 1992-93 Times All-Valley team will be published April 8.)

The team was selected by a panel of Los Angeles-area sportswriters.

Wyatt averaged 30.6 points a game to rank among the state scoring leaders. Bankhead averaged 25.4.

North Hollywood landed a pair of juniors on the team, guard Fantasia Johnson (15.8 points) and center Damon Ollie (17.0). Junior center Johnny Williams of Taft, who averaged 18.2 points, also made the team.

Junior swingman Kris Johnson (21.3) of Crenshaw, whose team won the State Division I title last weekend in Oakland, was named the 4-A player of the year. Johnson played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Montclair Prep.

Monroe led all area schools with two first-team selections in the 3-A, Kenyatta Niles, a junior who averaged 16.7 points, and senior Tweedy Stiner (14.6). The pair helped Monroe reach the 3-A final.
